Boise Ecstatic Dance – DJ Information & Inquiry

Thank you for your interest in DJing for Boise Ecstatic Dance. We love collaborating with DJs who feel aligned with the spirit of the Ecstatic Dance movement and who enjoy co-creating meaningful, embodied experiences with our amazing community. This document is intended to give you a clear overview of our dance and to gather the information we need to explore a potential collaboration.

About Boise Ecstatic Dance

Boise Ecstatic Dance is a community-rooted, nonprofit ecstatic dance held weekly in the Boise / Garden City area. Our intention is to offer a safe, welcoming, and inspiring container for embodied movement, authentic expression, and connection.

Location

Anser Charter School, 202 E 42nd St, Garden City, ID 83714

The Space

The dance area is 63 feet by 38 feet with about 2400 square feet of dance space.

Weekly Schedule (Wednesdays)

6:00 PM – Facilitators & DJ arrive for setup
7:15 PM – Participants arrive
7:30 PM - Opening Circle
7:45 PM – Music begins
90-minute DJ set
Brief group closing (under 2 minutes)
Extended closing circle (20–40 minutes, depending on participation)
Cleanup & breakdown – approximately 30-40 minutes

We value presence, collaboration, and flow. DJs are invited to stay engaged through the close of the evening and support the energetic arc of the space.

DJ Compensation

We believe in fairly compensating DJs for their time, energy, and artistry.

Guaranteed minimum payout: $250
Community-supported bonus: When turnout is strong and the community donates generously, DJs often have potential to receive closer to $300–$400 total, depending on total donation count.

For featured or traveling DJs, we always increase the suggested donation from $15 to $20 to directly support the artist. We also invest significant effort into marketing these events to help ensure a strong turnout.

While additional compensation beyond the minimum is not guaranteed, we do our best to support visiting DJs when the community response allows.

Sound System

We provide a solid, dance-ready sound setup, including:

2 Alto TS312 2000-watt 12" 2-way powered loudspeakers
1 JBL EON718S 1500-watt 18-inch Powered PA Subwoofer
2 BOSE L1 Portable Line Array System (as secondary speakers)
